Meet Toyota GB
Toyota GB is the British arm of the Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota, with a flagship office located just south of London close to Epsom, in Surrey.
As one of our first clients, our relationship with Toyota actually began all the way back in 2020, when Sociability took part in their start-up accelerator program. Following initial success on this program, Toyota signed up as part of our first wave of clients, and they haven't looked back!
Now, nearly 4 years down the line they're here to share the ways that they have utilised Sociability into their regular workflows, and the impact it's had on their staff & new hires…

The challenge
As with many larger corporates, Toyota GB were looking for a way to support their existing disabled staff and diversify their talent pool and help drive forward their goal of providing true Mobility for All.
As part of this agenda, they were seeking actionable, real-world ways to support their disabled staff (and future staff!), that would help to build a greater feeling of inclusion at Toyota GB and ensure that everyone working at or visiting their Headquarters felt included and welcomed into the space, from the minute they arrived.

The solution
Sociability have been proud to work closely with Toyota, first as part of their start-up accelerator, where we provided advice on meaningfully supporting disabled staff, and then as one of our earliest adopters. This includes the creation of a cloud-based, bespoke accessibility guide allowing all users to see the facilities & features of the site before they arrive, allowing Toyota GB to:
Inform all staff & visitors (present & future!) about the facilities available at the office, to ensure that everyone knows what to expect before they arrive, and that no one gets left outside;
Integrate this system into their existing platforms, and external communications to guests & visitors coming onsite; and
Interact with their guests & users of the space to champion their disabled staff and visitors by providing them with the tools needed to thrive at work.

The outcome
The Toyota GB site officially went live in 2021, and since then the site has gone from strength to strength!
The team have pushed to embed the Sociability guide across their staff networks, to encourage uptake and usage across their staff body - with views reaching as many as 300 per month, they have been thrilled with the results!
Alongside supporting their existing staff to feel more comfortable at work, and to truly thrive in their professional environment, the guide has also been pivotal in supporting new and incoming staff like Tino, who joined their team in September 2023, to get to know the space before they first come onsite, providing an additional layer of confidence & ease when heading into the office for the first time.
